Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): The Dimapur Sangtam Chare Area Mungmung Festival was celebrated at the Mandeville Garden in Purana Bazaar here on September 2, drawing a mammoth crowd of approximately 2000 people.
The event featured a spectacular cultural showcase, including traditional folk dances, soulful renditions of classic folk songs, and dramatic presentations depicting historical events and moral tales. Artists adorned in elaborate traditional attire performed to the rhythmic beats of ancient drums and folk instruments, captivating the audience for hours.
Beyond the stage, the festival grounds buzzed with activity, with stalls offering a variety of traditional Naga cuisines and authentic Sangtam delicacies. Artisans displayed handmade crafts, textiles, and jewellery, providing a platform for local talent.
In his address, Convenor Sejongmong emphasised the importance of such gatherings in sustaining cultural identity and fostering unity, particularly among the youth.
The event also served as a grand reunion for families and friends, strengthening community bonds and leaving a lasting impression of cultural pride and shared heritage. The organising committee expressed gratitude to performers, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees for making the event a resounding success.
