Dimapur Sporting Cub today dethroned defending champions Head Hunters FC (164 TA NAGA) 2-1 to lift champion of the 9th Capt N Kengurüse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament 2025 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
Nangshang and Rhitsho netted a goal each for Dimapur SC in the 3rd and 11th minute respectively.
Haotingmang netted a lone goal for Headhunters FC in the 55th minute.
Earlier, MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso graced the closing ceremony as the special guest. This tournament, which commenced on October 22 and concluded on November 6, was organised by Assam Rifles in collaboration with Nagaland Football Association (NFA) under the aegis of Op Sadbhavana, Spear Corps.
The tournament, with total prize money of Rs 6.5 lakhs, featured 20 teams from various districts of Nagaland.
The tournament aims to promote sportsmanship, discipline and youth engagement, while honouring the valour and supreme sacrifice of Capt N. Kengurüse, MVC.
