Dimapur traffic to revert to old system

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): In view of the traffic congestion faced by the commuters of Dimapur town, the Dimapur District Administration and Dimapur Police held a meeting at SP Office Chamber and it was decided that the traffic regulation of Dimapur main town area would revert back to the old system whereby movement of vehicles will be allowed on both ways of Nyamo Lotha Road. This was stated in a press note issued by SP Dimapur Zekotso Mero. The change in the traffic regulation will be enforced with effect from October 22, 2010 (Friday).

As per the six point traffic regulation announced, movement of vehicles along Nyamo Lotha Road will be allowed from Deluxe point to Holy Cross point and also from Holy Cross Point to Deluxe Point and drives should take the left lane. It was also informed that only one way flow of traffic will be allowed along Anwar Hussein road—Deluxe point intersection. Vehicles plying from Anwar Hussein road and Zakiesatuo (Eros lane) road will not be allowed to enter towards Deluxe point. 

Further only one way flow of traffic will be allowed along MP road and GS road. Single parking of vehicles will be strictly enforced, according to the notification. All two wheeler vehicles should also strictly abide by the ‘No Entry” and ‘One Way’ regulations effective throughout Dimapur town. Further it is mandatory for two wheeler riders to wear helmets. Surprise checking of helmets will be conducted by Police personnel and defaulters will be fined on the spot through issue of challans, the notification from the SP stated.
