Dimapur, January 6 (MExN): The Diphupar Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu is holding its 37th annual general conference at Diphupar village on January 6 and 7 with Z. Kasheto Yeptho, Class-I Contractor as chief guest and SK Hekshe Achumi, Joint Director, Soil & Water Conservation as speaker.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, Kasheto unfurled the flag of the union and challenged the students’ community to be the flag bearer in bringing transformation to the society. Stating that Nagaland is known as state but the people of the land has lost the Christian principle and corruption has crossed every limit making the state one of the most corrupt states in the country, the chief guest said Naga society needs a great change and it can come only through younger generation with education as weapon.
On Clean Election campaign initiated by NBCC, he said that it is one opportunity where younger generations, especially the students' community can support the campaign strongly in implementing the movement of the churches. He was of the view that clean election would be a step forward in eradicating corruption from Nagaland.
He said God has blessed each one of us with immense ability to do anything that may be beyond one’s imagination and therefore one has to seek God always and be humble in his sight. But one cannot expect life to be spoon-fed as long as we do not put our abilities and blessings into practice. One has to work hard with sheer determination making best use of what God has bestowed upon each one of us for one's own well-being and for the society at large, Kasheto stated.
Encouraging the students to make education their primary focus in order to rise high in life, he maintained that education coupled with determination and hard-working is very important for one to achieve success in this cut throat competitive world and reminded the students that a mere degree is not sufficient for one to accomplish what one desires to, but one has to excel in whatever field he or she is pursuing. As people now have access to all the advanced technology, he also called upon the parents not to be lacking in giving the required education to their children.
On preservation and upholding one's own tradition and culture, the chief pointed out that people around the world are known and regarded by their culture and tradition and likewise it is very important for Naga people especially the younger generations to preserve the rich and vibrant culture and history of the land.
A press note received here stated that president of Diphupar Naga Students' Union, Khumlamo Patton also exhorted the gathering. Cultural song and dance presentations were other highlights of the day.
