DIPR Digital Archive Cell inaugurated

Dimapur, August 18 (DIPR): The State of the Art ‘Archive Cell’ and ‘Interactive Website’ of the Directorate of Information & Public Relations was inaugurated on August 18 by Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Economics & Statistics, R. Tohanba.
The Archive contains photos, videos and publications since State’s inception in a digitised format. The Digital Archive Cell has a capacity of 5 terabytes server, which can be upgraded as per requirement. All possible efforts have been made to retrieve all the old documents like publication, photos and videos since inception of the department, which have been digitised and archived year wise. The digitalization of all archival materials will help the department to save and maintain important documents for Government and public use and also for posterity.
In addition, DIPR has also developed an interactive website of 15 GB capacity, iprnagaland.gov.in which will be hosted by Techknowlogiz Advisory Services of Guwahati and will be routed through NIC as per Government norms and guidelines. Apart from hosting all the important information of the department in the form of documents and photos, DIPR can now instantly host the daily Naga News (News from all over the State), photos and videos of the important public functions. Under this project Laptops with Data Cards were provided to all the District offices where data network is active, for instant transmission of news and photos of the functions they cover and also have instant access to the website. The project will go a long way in projecting the Government activities in the right perspective and also keep the general public well informed about the activities of the Government.
The Department acknowledged with gratitude the services and logistic support rendered by IT and NIC departments and look forward to their support in future too.
