‘Disappearance of mother-tongue will start losing one’s identity’

Mokokchung, January 13 (MExN): “The disappearance of mother-tongue will be the starting point of losing one’s identity,” Kevithüto Sophie, Additional Inspector General of Police (Provisioning), PHQ, Kohima said appealing the students to “Speak and learn our mother-tongue,” while speaking under the theme, “Rediscover our identity.”

He was speaking at the 4th Conference Cum Sports Meet of the Changki Kaketsüri Longjem (Changki Students’ Union).
It was held at Changki Village, under Mokokchung District from January 8-11. 

Kevithüto Sophie graced the valedictory programme as special invitee. 

The speaker, dwelling on the conference’s theme stated that culture and identity are like two sides of the same coin. “They are very closely related although they seen differently.”

In this connection, he called upon the students to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of our forefathers which define one’s own identity.
