While the ignorance of the writer is forgiven, I am constrained to clarify my position in order to ensure justice and to enlighten the younger generation of the factual events that culminated into unfortunate political chaos and loss of lives (1988 crisis).
It appears quite unfair on the part of Akato Chophi, self-styled Kilonser, MIP, Khole-Kitovi coalition of traitors, who was then a mere teen studying PU outside Nagaland and completely unaware of the events taking place in Eastern Nagaland.
Even after joining national service during 1990’s, I can dare say that Akato never availed the privilege to serve beyond the comforts of Dimapur and Nagaland and yet attempting to bear witness to the historical events which he never did saw or experienced is not only ludicrous but a vain attempt to attract publicity.
On particular allegation heaved upon me as being responsible for killing one Capt. Thautin Tangkhul at Galon village and which in turn caused the outbreak of crisis is too much a compliment.
It may be recalled that not a single casualty had ever been recorded at Galon village during the entire crisis, likewise, the demise of Capt.Thautin, where and how? may be ascertained from the contemporary Tangkhuls who were privy to all the events and circumstances.
The factors that caused the irreparable separation is well known to the contemporary leaders- Mr.Isak Swu and Mr.TH.Muivah, Chairman and General Secretary respectively were together at the Council HQ, while SS.Khaplang, then Vice Chairman was away at his native village and then Commander-in-Chief Khole Konyak was also stationed back at Konyak region.
Whereas I were a mere Corporal then, only carrying out orders with hundreds of senior Army and Civil officers manoeuvring the situation, thus, to hold a corporal responsible for political catastrophe of such magnitude is too far-fetched and illogical.
I would only ask Khole-Kitovi to be reminded of their various allegations levelled against Isak and Muivah since the partition hitherto. Every single word the duo wrote against Isak and Muivah, I believe has been well recorded and documented. Those testimonies may therefore be referred first before contradicting oneself.
I also would like to advise Akato Chopi to first acquaint himself with the facts and realities from living witnesses rather than simply rushing to press only to earn disrepute and embarrassment.
Whatever rubbishes you wrote only reflect your personality as ignorant puppet dancing to the tunes of desperate outlaws and traitors.
