District Hospital, Mon celebrates National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 1.
MON, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): To address misconceptions, fears, and ignorance surrounding blood donation, as well as to motivate and encourage the people of Mon to donate blood voluntarily, District Hospital (DH) Mon celebrated National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on October 1.
According to a press release, Dr T Temsu Ao, Medical Superintendent of DH Mon, welcomed and commended all participants for being a part historic moment as the district commemorates its first-ever National Voluntary Blood Donation Day in the 59 years since the establishment of health facilities.
He described the day as a moment of realisation, emphasising that it is never too late.
Dr Temsu also viewed that within two-three years, Mon district would have a blood surplus since the people have strong willpower and a good mindset.
There are donors in the district; all we need to do is raise awareness and knowledge about blood donation, which is the goal of today's celebration, he added.
He also shared the importance of blood donation, eligibility criteria, pre-donation preparations, the collection process, post-donation care, and common myths surrounding blood donation.
Honouring the past and present blood donors, the Medical Superintendent presented each donors with a certificate and a badge as well as a memento of appreciation with words ‘thank you’ to all the 15 schools, NGOs, District Programme Management Unit (DPMU) and District Hospital.
Following this, the participant made a pledge to be part of the blood donation campaign.
To make the day even more memorable, Dr. Temsü arranged a surprise package, where the KNSK president randomly selected a number from a bookmark and presented the recipient with a bouquet, according to the release.
The programme was chaired by Dr S Ngampa Sangme Senior Specialist, DH Mon.
