Pughoboto, March 23 (DIPR): District Level Standing Committee meeting was held at the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner & Assistant Returning Officer Pughoboto on March 19. The meeting was chaired by ADC & ARO Pughoboto, Nokchasashi and attended by its members.
The chairman apprised the house on the forthcoming general election to the Lok Sabha 2014 and highlighted on the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct which came into force from 5th March 2014. He informed the members that the main responsibility of the District Level Standing Committee is to ensure free and fair conduct of the election process.
Fixing responsibility on all the members he also solicited better cooperation and coordination between the law enforcing agencies and the district administration. He also informed the members on the prohibition of carrying arms, sale of liquor and defacement of public property. Informing the house that the order directing all the arms license holders to deposit their arms to the nearest police station was issued through the respective village councils, he requested SDPO Pughoboto and OC Pughoboto/Ghathashi to make necessary arrangement for proper custody of all arms deposited at the police station till the election is completed. He also instructed the members to take necessary action and ensure that the Static Surveillance Teams and Flying Squads are in place and operational along with necessary video capturing devices, and to observe proper procedure in the event of seizures of any prohibited items.
