Mokokchung, March 26 (MExN): The district level training for Medical officers and nurses on basic palliative care under Mokokchung district was held at the Chief Medical Officer’s Conference hall on March 26.
Dr Limanaro DPO (UIP&RCH ), in his keynote address, stated that palliative care is prevention and treatment of serious health related suffering and is holistic in approach to improve quality of life, adding that the care addresses not only physical pain but also addresses the psychological, emotional, social and spiritual suffering of both patients and families.
A short speech was delivered by Dr Tiasunep, Chief Medical Officer, on the concept of palliative care, outlining the quality of life for patients and family, quality health care, knowledge and discipline.
The resource person of the training was Dr Sentiyenla SMO, CHC Mangkolemba. The training was aimed to cover different topics under palliative care which included introduction to palliative care, management of pain and WHO analgesic ladder, and how a healthcare worker can deliver quality palliative care in their respective health care unit.
