In the backdrop of a year celebration of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) held on 22nd February. We are shocked to read crisis report within DMC leaders who were elected by the public to do the public service. The crisis was there even before the electing of Chairperson and Dy-Chairperson and that tug of war at the beginning were discouraged and were taken back for nearly three months right after the DMC election.
These, tug of war ended with election of the present leadership of DMC that yielded relief to the General Public of Dimapur. The present crisis news is quite shocking. Within a year back headed by few leaders among the members who should rather contribute or cooperate among themselves for the public has been continuously showing their ugly political game, thereby threatening the progress of public welfare.
The undersigned concerned citizen would like to point out that DMC is a Civic Body and every elected members are supposed to render their best service to the people. However, it appears that the achievements of DMC which is widely publicized is opposed/criticized by the rebel elected members. It is apparently clear that the group of leaders have no concern for the welfare of the people. The public of Dimapur were happy over the tremendous change in the city brought by DMC which can be understood through the expression of Civil Society Leader based at Dimapur. We would humbly request the rebel leaders of the DMC to be rational and urge them not to create further confusion and lose confidence of the public. Every elected leaders should rather dedicate his time for the welfare of the public than hunting and signature campaign for the sake of leadership. At this juncture all the elected DMC members should unitedly work together for the development of Dimapur Town inspite of fighting for their chair and position.
Public is well aware of the fact that who are among the DMC and are confident that the present leadership can deliver goods to the citizens of Dimapur as far as civic sense is concerned. There is no reason to substantiate their allegation against the Chairman and Dy-Chairman or the current carrier within DMC. In fact in modern development stage there is no space/place to allow the ‘goondas’/womanizer and corrupt people to run Civic body. The intellectual public can never go on electing this kind of leaders in the society. So, every one should be well versed before commenting or publicizing any issue. Those persons who are rebelling should stop and work together or else they should resign to pave a way for intellectual persons to dedicate themselves for public welfare.
The State Government should intervene in the ongoing crisis and after examining carefully rather take disciplinary action on those rebel groups, or else the Civic body will be a group of senseless people.
