DIMAPUR, August 13 (MExN): A nominated councillor of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and Vice President of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Youth Organisation, Dimapur region, was arrested by the Assam Police and Excise Department for allegedly smuggling alcohol. According to sources, Enoch Sukhato Wotsa was apprehended along with three others late at night between 11 pm and midnight on June 12. He was reportedly travelling in a government-registered vehicle, accompanied by two other vehicles. The arrest took place under the jurisdiction of Khatkati Police Station in Assam, where the accused were in custody till the filing of this report. Wotsa is among the councillors nominated to the DMC by the Government of Nagaland. As of press time, Assam Police could not be reached for comment on the case.
