Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): Rampant dumping of garbage directly into the drains is one of the main reasons drains get clogged each year in Dimapur. Similarly, Dhobinala drain which is one of most vital drains of the town remained completely blocked near Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, with plastic, bottles, damaged household stuff, electrical items and even tree branches.
With intervention of the Dimapur Municipal Council, the garbage blocking the drain was removed by staff of Sanitation Branch, DMC using manual labour and machinery, on Tuesday morning, bringing much relief to the residents in the area.
DMC’s intervention came after land owners and residents between Holy Cross Hr. Sec. and Dhobinala Police Point led by K.K. Yepthomi, proprietor of Khakhu’s Building approached the DMC.
Wapang Longchar of sanitation branch, DMC who was leading the massive cleaning of the drain discouraged the people from throwing garbage in the drain. On behalf the residents, K.K. Yepthomi has acknowledged the DMC for timely cleaning of the drain.
