DMC penalize butchers basing on complaints from public

Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Basing on complain received from public that the pork sellers are not following to rates recently prescribed by the Dimapur Municipal Council, staff of Rate Control, DMC conducted checking on July 23 and seized pork from Super Market, Half Nagarjan, Eros/Elora Line and Dhobinala.
It was reported that butchers were selling head, hoof and intestine at the same rate as dressed/cut meat despite objection from the buyers. Butchers whose meat was seized were let go after a stern warning. Checking was led by advisor S. Heno co-incharge of Rate Control, a pres note informed.
The note stated that advisor incharge of Rate Control, Vikholie Nienu has asked the public not to pay more than the rates prescribed by the DMC. The DMC, in the month of June 2011 had revised the rate of pork @ Rs. 100 per kg (wholesale), Rs. 135 per kg for retail (dresses and cut) and Rs. 125 per kg for head, hoof and intestine. DMC has also directed the butchers to provide quality meat to the customers and to hang weighing scale at least one foot above the table/counter.
