Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): In one of the strangest developments in the already-confusing State-of-Affairs in Nagaland’s administration, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued a notice today stipulating a huge array of commercial “taxes” to be imposed – all in the face of another order issued by the State government today rejecting the claim of the DMC to exacting taxes of any form. The notice received here from “executive officer” of the DMC Imtirenla Jamir said the DMC’s notice is “In pursuance of the office memorandum issued by the Urban Development department, Municipal Administration cell” dated June 7, 2012. Citing provisions under Section 120 & 121 of Nagaland Municipal Act 2011, the DMC has said it would exact the following taxes.
A. Tolls & Fees on following items:

B. Scavenger tax (residential sanitary tax)
C. Tax on advertisement/hoarding
D. Tax on animals (Live stocks)
E. Tax on the mobile towers.
Claims and objections are to be submitted to the Dimapur Municipal Council on or before July 20, the note added.
