On the morning of February 28, one person was reported to have been arrested on the Assam side of the disputed Dimapur-Karbi-Anglong border. The person was reported to have intruded into the disputed area, falling under Dhansiri outpost of the Assam Police, and was detained. Later that day prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Cr.PC was clamped on the Karbi-Anglong side of the border.

Reports later emerged that the arrested person is an employee of the Nagaland government. Though there was no official confirmation from the Nagaland side, Assam Police sources asserted that the arrested person was from Nagaland and that he was “apparently a (Nagaland government) employee...” No further details were disclosed. The arrested man remains in the custody of the Assam police and will be forwarded to the court, the sources added.

In another development on March 1, work to set up a temporary shelter for NAP (IR) personnel patrolling the affected area had to be stopped following intimation from the Karbi-Anglong administration, stating that the proposed site for the shelter fell within the purview of the Karbi-Anglong Autonomous Council. The site located near Rilan Yan village was proposed to house one company of the NAP (IR).
