DNSU calls to close down illegal optical shops

Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) while extending its fullest support to the issue raised by Nagaland Optometric Association (NOA) over illegal optical shops run by unprofessional, stated that “such shops be immediately close down, and trade licence be cancelled in total.” DNSU Media Cell in a press release expressed shock to learn that for the past many years, the public has been availing such unprofessional eye care services.

“In subsequent to the complaint received against some optical clinic for running the clinic without proper certificates of practice in Dimapur and upon the issue placed by Nagaland Optometric Association,” the union stated. It added that when enquired, “a self-styled union so called ‘Optical Association of Dimapur’ interfered as a care taker of the optical clinics, and tried to defend the defaulters.”  However, the DNSU stated that on enquiry about the membership of the association, ‘no executive members of Optical Association of Dimapur had a profession in the field of optics.’

Therefore, the union asserted that “such unprofessional and self-style association will never be allowed to function in its jurisdiction.”

The union has acknowledged the NOA for bringing up the issue in public domain and sensitizing the innocent general public. It also called the attention of the authorities concern to verify and authenticate proper documents before giving registration to any associations.
