DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 18 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoH&FW), demanding the immediate vacation of the classroom at Government Middle School (GMS) Midland, which it alleges was illegally occupied for the operation of a Health Centre.
In a notice to the Principal Director of DoH&FW, the DNSU claimed that despite clear directives from the Principal Director of the Education Department to vacate the premises on July 5 and again on October 8, 2024, the concerned department has continued to encroach upon the school infrastructure. This, the DNSU asserts, has severely disrupted the academic environment and infringed upon students' rights to proper education.
Stating that such blatant disregard for student welfare, administrative authority, and the law is unacceptable, the DNSU demanded the immediate relocation of the dispensary from the school premises to a suitable alternative site. It called for compliance with the Education Department’s order and the restoration of the school’s classrooms for educational purposes.
The DNSU further cautioned that it would not hesitate to escalate the matter through public demonstrations, legal recourse, and other necessary measures to ensure that the rightful academic environment of GMS Midland is restored.
