DNWO raid shops, seize banned liquor

DIMAPUR, JULY 16 (MExN): Diphupar Naga Women Organisation (DNWO) confiscated a sizeable quantity of illicit liquor on July 14 last. The seized items comprising of around 50 cases of assorted IMFL was destroyed today in the presence of the Diphupar Village Council (DVC). This is in continuation of the DVC’s standing resolution to control the consumption and sale of liquor within the village jurisdiction.
According to the village council, volunteers of the DNWO had conducted raids on a number of shops selling liquor inside the village on Thursday. The raid was concentrated mainly on the stretch of road between the Central Jail junction and the CIHSR, which has witnessed a mushrooming of illicit liquor outlets in the guise of shops. Eleven shops were found defaulting from where the liquor was seized and the sellers strongly reprimanded as a first offence.
The village cautioned that for a second offence the offenders will be expelled from the village while action will also be taken on the owners of the building or house from where the defaulting shops ran business.
