Do you trust the recently formed Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue to play a positive role as a facilitator in the peace talks? Why?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
•    Yes. We all know that most of the politicians have good connections with the underground groups. By coming together to form the Parliamentary Committee this may be a chance for the underground groups to unite and work together for honourable solution.
•    Yes it’s a welcome step to see them agree on something. I hope it’s not too late.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
•    No, they are not the right body to be playing the role of the facilitator. Most of the politicians have their own interest in mind. It is nothing more than an eyewash.
•    No. What a joke. Do they even know the meaning of facilitator? This is sending wrong message to the peace process.
•    No. The state government instead should have identified a group of Naga individuals to serve as facilitators. They will do a better job.
•    No, I do not think this is necessary. This is a whitewash to mislead the public. We all know that one group has already finished their negotiations with Center and the other one is in a stalemate. So what is the Parliamentary panel trying to facilitate.
•    No. Before it even started it has gone into controversy. The interview by one of the minister itself shows that our Naga politicians do not know what it takes to be a facilitator.
•    Politicians not believable.
•    Absolutely A BIG NO. How many committees/body/forum had been formed in the past? All of it were just a farce, and in short, it is just to divert the attention of the public from one particular prevalent issue. JLF, PAM, everything were just for some political agenda with no final positive response. Instead of forming committees, why don't they resign en-mass and pave way for the final signing for Nagas sovereignty? But sadly, that wouldn't happen, so better they stop all these dramas and bring positive developments instead. And to the national workers, it's time for all factions to come under one umbrella and fight with one accord leaving behind all differences and strive for one solution which is amicable and acceptable. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH for God's sake!
•    No. To form a Parliamentary Committee comprising of all 60 MLAs and 2 MPs shows that something is not right. At the most the Committee should have been no more than a handful of people. This itself goes to show that the formation of the Parliamentary Committee is not out of genuine intention but out of self-interest.
•    No, I do not trust the recently formed Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political/National Issue. Let me give reasons. Firstly, the Parliamentary Committee reminds me of the failed Naga People Convention 1957, was it not created to be a moderator (Middlemen in common language) then? This later sold out Nagas' future, in return for their own economic, monetary, and individual political position they forgot the Naga peace talks! This failure of our predecessors has resulted in a failed state. The wrongs unacknowledged by the overground, underground, and Nagaland government look at the mess of our state of affairs! We have border issues, Wokha side, Mokokchung side, Assam side, tell me which side we don't have issues with? What about our Rengma brethren who are neither here nor there. Do we thank, the illegal state borders that came out of the creation of today's Nagaland?

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    The Legislators of the Nagaland Assembly are not a neutral party. They have already taken an oath to serve and protect the Constitution of India. This means they cannot be the facilitators in the peace talks since they are part of the Government of India which is a party to the negotiations.
•    The Parliamentary Committee should earn the trust of the people through their work. So far the words spoken has not won the trust, rather it has provoked the ire of the people.
•    The Parliamentary Committee is like a joke. How can 62 people be in a committee. They are not serious.
•    Everyone uses Naga political issue for their own benefit and interest. The Core Committee should spell out their blueprint to the public.
