Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): An injured person almost died on way to Kohima from Pughoboto on December 6 due to excess loss of blood from “improper dressing” and absence of doctors at Pughoboto’s Community Health Centre (CHC), says Mishilimi Village Council and Mishilimi Students’ Union. The organziations said that the victim was wounded in an accidental firing during a hunt and was rushed to the CHC. No doctor was in station, and the wounded person was tended by nurses and other staff on duty, said the organzations in a letter today. In a letter addressed to the department of Health & Family Welfare, Mishilimi Village Council and Mishilimi Students’ Union alleged gross negligence of the CHC. There are four doctors posted at CHC Puhgoboto but most of the time, the health centre is run by nurses alone, the organziations said. Negligence and lackadaisical attitude of the doctors have left the public hapless and in peril, the unions said. The CHC is siad to be the only major healthcare centre for the people under Pughoboto sub-division. The organziations have urged the competent authorities to look into the grievances of the people of the area at the earliest.
