DoHFW entrusts DCs to enforce directive on doctors’ private practice

Kohima, August 2 (MExN):  Two days after issuing an office memorandum (OM) directing in-service government doctors to stop private practice, the Department of Health and Family Welfare Nagaland (DoHFW) has written to all Deputy Commissioners of the State to ensure compliance of the directive.

In a letter dated August 2, the DoHFW Commissioner & Secretary Y Kikheto Sema pointed out to all the Deputy Commissioners are the Chairperson of the District Health Mission and District Health Society.

Hence, the DCs are empowered to monitor and review matters relating to health sector, inter-sectoral coordination and advocate measures required to improve health services in their respective district, it said.

Accordingly, the Commissioner & Secretary requested the DCs to “coordinate and ensure that the instructions” of the OM are followed in letter and spirit, further seeking their continuous support.

“Should you find anything in violation of this O.M., the matter may kindly be reported through this e-mail address: hfw.ngld@gmail,” it added.

The OM, among others, directed in-service Government Doctors, both availing as well as not availing NPA, to either close down their private hospitals or to de-associate from such partnership within one month.

Those doctors availing NPA and involved in Private Practice in private hospitals/clinics were also directed to either stop private practice or to forgo their NPA within one month. (see box)
