‘Don’t indulge in election process’

NSCN (IM), NNPG Working Committee caution against sabotaging ‘historical process of negotiations’

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 28 (MExN): A day after political parties in the state jointly lobbied for deferment of elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the NSCN (IM) and the Naga National Political Group (NNPG) Working Committee issued a joint statement today cautioning those who would seek to “sabotage the historical process of negotiations.”   The joint statement issued by Hukavi Yepthomi, Kilo Kilonser, NSCN (IM) and Alezo V Nuh, Member, NNPG Working Committee stated: “When Naga people as a whole have made the collective decision to forgo election, we caution vested interest and unscrupulous persons not to sabotage the historical processes of negotiations by filing nominations and indulging in election process.”  

The statement came after a joint meeting was held on January 28 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, organised by Core Committee of Nagaland Tribal Hohos and Civil Organisations (CCNTHCO).  

It noted that following the intensive negotiations going on between the Government of lndia and the Naga Political Groups, the negotiating groups are “leaving no stone unturned to ensure that an honourable and acceptable solution is evolved on time in the interest of the Naga people.”

It meanwhile appreciated all the political parties, both national and regional, for responding positively to “Solution, Not Election.” “The negotiators are indeed overwhelmed by the unstinted support of our people, particularly at this juncture when the Nagas are once again put to test. We also express our appreciation to all the tribal hohos and civil society organisations for their immeasurable services rendered towards building oneness,” the joint statement added.  

Joint meeting on ‘Solution, Not Election’ today

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 28 (MExN): The Core Committee of Nagaland Tribal Hohos and Civil Organisations (CCNTHCO) today appreciated the NSCN (IM) and the NNPG Working Committee for coming together and issuing a Joint Statement on ‘Solution, Not Election.’  

The CCNTHCO, in a press note meanwhile reminded all political parties to attend the joint meeting to be held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, 11:00am on January 29. Apart from the political parties, the negotiating groups, namely, the NSCN (IM) and the NNPG Working Committee will also be participating in the joint meeting, it stated.  

The CCNTHCO informed that the Presidents and General Secretaries of all the political parties, 7 members each from NSCN (IM) and NNPG Working Committee, and Presidents and General Secretaries of all apex tribal hohos and civil society organisations are to attend the joint meeting.
