MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 12 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung on Friday resolved to support TB patients in the district under the Nikshay Mitra scheme of the TB Elimination Programme.
Presenting a report during the monthly DPDB meeting, District TB Officer Dr Toshila Jamir said there are 174 TB patients in Mokokchung in need of support. Under the scheme, individuals, NGOs, cooperative societies and political parties can adopt TB patients for a minimum of six months to provide assistance.
MLA and DPDB Chairman Nuklutoshi Longkumer urged members to adopt at least one patient and announced that he would adopt five, a gesture followed by Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, who also pledged support to five patients. The board decided to review the contributions of departments at its next meeting.
The meeting also discussed the inter-state border situation, with Additional SP Y. Tumchobemo Yanthan informing that status quo was being maintained and the issue was under control.
The DC asked heads of offices to visit subordinate offices in blocks and subdivisions to build coordination and address challenges, adding that annual reports on such visits would be sought.
Other agenda items included financial and logistical support for the 25th Dr T. Ao Inter-District Championship 2026, constitution of a verification committee for LADP 2025-26, and consideration of a proposal to rename Rajeshwari Karina School, Tuli, to Royal Knight School, Tuli. The Department of Agriculture was tasked with the presentation for the next DPDB meeting.
