Peren: Reviewing the minutes of the last Peren DPDB meeting, the board re-affirmed ban on hunting and fishing in the entire Peren district at the DPDB meeting on May 6 at DC’s conference hall, new DC complex with a more proactive approach for a practical aspects of implementation of the ban, with immediate effect till further order. Administrative in charge of the respective sub divisions, including the sardar have presented their report to the board on the meeting conducted with the villages, NGO’s etc on the implementation of ban on hunting and fishing.
Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman DPDB, Peter Lichamo who chaired the meeting voiced strong concern about the preservation of wildlife. He apprised the board to disseminate and discourage the idea of hunting and fishing. He further stated that, as per the resolution a fine of Rs. 5000 (Five thousand) will be imposed against the defaulters and added that, the concerned village VDB’s account shall be freeze for a year for failing to comply to this order.
Later, Head Master, Government High School Peren, Heisuipeung reported the good results of HSLC 2014 which stands at 49.11 % and topped the district wise HSLC result. DDEO Peren, L. Toshimenla also informed the board about the exceeding good result of the HSSLC exam of Peren district. The Chairman congratulated the Head Master, Government High School Peren and the DDEO Peren for the good result on behalf of the board.
The Peren district Timber/Log Contractors Union approached the board for curtailing the period of ban on log extraction, from the earlier notification. The temporary halt on extraction and plying of heavy vehicle in the interior part of the district was necessitated to preserve the roads in the district during monsoon. The halting period was earlier notified to be effective from 1st May 2014 to 31st October 2014. After a lengthy deliberation and talking into consideration both ends, the board curtailed the period of halting from 15th May 2014 to 31 October 2014.
The meeting ended with remarks by the chair for strict attendance of the member in the DPDB meeting.
