Phiro (Wokha) | December 28: Minister of Agriculture Dr. Chumben Murry said the aim to pierce into government sector would not fulfill ones ambition and impressed upon the students to acquire education with humility.
The minister said this during the 50th anniversary of the Phiro Village Students’ Union (PVSU) at Phiro village, today held under the theme “Continuity with Change.”
While congratulating PVSU for attaining golden jubilee he also acknowledged the pioneers of the organization for initiating to note the interest of the students, and encouraged the students to be a part of the change.
Maintaining that changes has taken place widely in the living standard and the mindset of the people, Murry said that much has been done but more to do to bring changes in the society, “If your target is only to enter into Government sector, you acquiring education would mean nothing, set your ambition in such a way that it brings changes,” he added.
Murry also asserted that Wozhuro range has a rich economy resource thereby; he urged the gatherings to think of harvesting more using scientific technology which can also be preserved for the younger generations. He also impressed upon the gathering to maintain the primary school and the primary health centre.
While celebrating the jubilation with pomp and gaiety, the celebration also witnessed greeting message by Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor, N. Ejanthung Ngullie General Secretary Naga Students’ Federation, Amos Humtosoe, Vice-President Kyong Students’ Union and representative from WRSU. Also A.C. Odyuo and Susieyana Patton Joint Secretaries to the Govt. of Nagaland exhorted on the occasion.
The founding members, C.J Ovung also spoke on the occasion. Renbeni Odyuo, Naga Idol – 5 enthralled the crowed with a special number, K. Chamo Odyuo Asst. Pastor, Phiro Baptist Church pronounced invocation prayer while R. Nzulo Tungu, Eloe Esopvui, Phiro Baptist Church said benediction. Earlier the chief guest also unveiled the Jubilee Monolith.
The minister was accompanied by a host of government officials while students’ leaders from various organizations and village elders joined the jubilation. The valedictory session was graced by Er. Mhondamo Ovung, Chief Engineer PHED Nagaland as the theme speaker.
