Dr Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 (Tier 2) will take place from November 22 to December 11 at Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
Addressing a press conference in Kohima, Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports informed that the championship will witness participation from 13 registered states, with matches to be played in a league format.
Kethosietuo Sekhose, Director Youth Resources & Sports stated that 17 committees have been constituted for the smooth conduct of the tournament and stressed that the event aims to encourage and empower women in sports.
K. Neibou Sekhose, President Nagaland Football Association highlighted the legacy of the Dr. Talimeren Ao Trophy and noted that this will be the first national-level tournament of its kind to be hosted in Nagaland.
Officials further informed that the event will feature over 300 players and more than 28 match officials, marking one of the largest junior girls’ football gatherings in the region.
The championship honours Dr. Talimeren Ao, India’s first Olympic football captain, and aims to promote grassroots football development among young girls.
The Tournament will be organised by All India Football Federation (AIFF) with Nagaland Football Association (NFA) as host and powered by Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
