Players of Assam (white) and Uttar Pradesh vie for the ball during the semi-final match of the ongoing Dr Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025 held at Chumoukedima Football Stadium on December 8.

Chümoukedima, December 8 (MExN): Uttar Pradesh delivered a composed and disciplined performance to defeat a resilient Assam side 3–0, booking their place in the grand finale of the Dr Talimeren Ao Junior

Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 at the Chumoukedima Football Stadium on December 8.

The opening minutes saw both teams try to establish rhythm, with Assam enjoying early possession and attempting to press high. However, it was Uttar Pradesh’s tactical organisation that quickly became evident. Their compact midfield structure allowed them to transition smoothly from defense to attack.

The breakthrough came in the 27th minute, when Anjali Yadav found space inside the attacking third. Latching onto a well-threaded pass, she displayed sublime control before placing a composed finish past the Assam goalkeeper. The opener not only lifted Uttar Pradesh’s confidence but also forced Assam to chase the game.

Assam, despite holding 54% possession, struggled to convert their attacking build-up into real threats, thanks to the disciplined backline of Uttar Pradesh.

Just before halftime, Uttar Pradesh struck again. A defensive lapse from Assam in the 39th minute allowed Divya to pounce with precision. Her strike doubled the advantage and gave Uttar Pradesh a comfortable lead heading into the break.

Assam came out with renewed intent in the second half, pushing aggressively through the flanks and securing a series of six corners in total. Yet, despite their set-piece advantage, they were constantly denied by Uttar Pradesh’s goalkeeping and structured defensive unit.

The match-defining moment arrived in the 69th minute, once again courtesy of Anjali Yadav, who showcased her striking instincts with a clinical finish to complete her brace.
