The XXII Inter-District Football Championship 2022 (Dr. T. Ao Trophy) under the theme “Together we can soar” will start from April 18 till 29 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
This tournament commemorates 50 glorious years of Nagaland Football Association (NFA). This will be conducted under the aegis of NFA in collaboration with Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland and Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) at host.
Agriculture & Cooperation, Minister G Kaito Aye will grace the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest on April 18 at 5:00 pm. Youth Resources & Sports, Advisor Er Zale Neikha will be the guest of honour.
Nagaland’s rural development minister Metsubo Jamir and Mokokchung deputy commissioner Shashank Pratap Singh will take time for “Salutations from the host district.”
NFA president Neibou Sekhose will deliver presidential address and NFA golden jubilee greetings while MDFA president Meyisanger Lemtur will deliver welcome address.
The programme will be followed by musical performances. The tournament will be played on league-cum- knock out system. Phek will face Dimapur in the first match at 9:00 AM on April 19.
The champion will carry prize money of Rs 3 lakh while runner-up will receive Rs 2 lakh. The losing semi finalists will get Rs 50,000 each, according to NFA.
