Wokha, December 12 (DIPR): Minister of Nagaland for Higher and Technical Education & Urban Development Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu graced the inauguration of the new building of Mount Tiyi College, Wokha as the chief guest on December 9.
Addressing the function the chief guest said, for building the future and career of the younger generation the department is concentrating on quality education where by giving much importance to National assessment and accredited Council to bring about transformation in the education system. Unless students and teachers work hard quality education cannot be ensured he also added.
Stating quality of education is measured by the quality of students produced, he urged the college faculty to work with sincerity. As a small State, employment has reached a saturation point where students have to be aware of the situation and urged the students to develop and learn work culture and take every step with pride. The Minister also informed that by the end of the next academic year i.e 2012 the department would be introducing semester system in all colleges.
He appealed the Lotha community and the public leaders to extend co-operation and support to their area representative Dr.Chumben Murry in acquiring land as early as possible for construction of Main Campus of The Open Global University.
The Guest of Honour Dr.Chumben Murry minister for Agriculture, who also spoke during the function called upon the students to obtain education in humbleness and urged them to consider their institution as a centre of excellence and a ground to build and refine their knowledge to become a great person.
Additional Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, A. Woben Lotha while delivering the welcome address, thanked Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Department Officials and contractor for the valuable contribution towards the successful completion of the new building.
The inaugural function was chaired by Director, Higher Education, Chubainla Jamir while vote of thanks was proposed by Principle Mt.Tiyi College, Chubatola Longkumer. Dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev.Dr.Nrio Ezung, KBES, Vankhosung.
