DIMAPUR, APRIL 25 (MExN): The Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) has demanded that the Nagaland state government and the Department for School Education immediately “imburse the pending salary of SSA Teachers.” Asserting that funds meant for salary to teachers for the months of December 2013 to March 2014 have already been sanctioned, the union demanded the reason for this “questionable delay.”
The union, in a press note, stated that this situation reflects the “irresponsible attitude of the concerned department,” and lamented that it has affected the teachers as well as the student community.
Reminding the authority that some government schools are non-functional due to agitation by the aggrieved teachers, the DSSU pointed out that this is against the Right to Education. It cautioned that the state government and the education department “will be fully held responsible for this mess and for playing with the careers of thousands of students.”
DSSU President, Hutoshe Kit’s and General Secretary, Kavito Ayemi stated that the future of Naga Society is in the hands of the teachers, as they take full responsibility in moulding and shaping students and their careers.
The DDSU further stated that SSA teachers “have been carrying out their duty with utmost dedication and sincerity.” “As such they deserved to be treated equally in line with any other departmental government employees, without any discriminations or bias,” it asserted.
The DSSU further extended its full co operation to the aggrieved SSA teachers association. Urging the authority to take action on the matter, the union cautioned that it will not hesitate to take up its own course of action.
