DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has extended its full support to the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) over concerns regarding the steep rise in prices of construction materials such as stone boulders, cement, rods and bricks.
In a statement, DUCCF said the escalation has caused hardship for the public, contractors and small businesses, affecting infrastructure development and increasing the cost of living. It noted that many local businesses are relocating to neighbouring Assam districts, including Khatkhatti-Loarijam and Dillia, due to lower costs, and residents are increasingly purchasing construction materials from there.
The federation urged authorities to take corrective measures, regulate pricing, and ensure transparency in the supply chain. It also questioned the silence of welfare organisations tasked with monitoring these commodities.
DUCCF said it stands united with CNCCI and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public interest and supporting collective initiatives for the larger good of society.
