DIMAPUR, JULY 28 (MExN): Government High School, Diphupar has been functioning without cooling fans in the sweltering heat of Dimapur. Now, the school will no longer suffer the humidity of the plains thanks to a noble gesture, not from the government but from the Diphupar Village Council (DVC).
The village council on Thursday, July 28 donated 20 sets of ceiling fans to be installed in every room of the school building. The philantropic gesture was in response to an appeal for assistance from the school.
The newly acquired fans were handed over to the school’s headmistress by outgoing EAC, Chumukedima Henok Phom, who was the chief guest at a progarmme held at the Diphupar village comminuty hall for the purpose. The village council also took the opportunity to give a fitting farewell on behalf of the village to the outgoing EAC, who will now serve as the Revenue Officer in the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Headmistress, GHS, Diphupar Asangla receiving the contribution expressed gratitute to the village council for considering the school’s needs as well as promptly replying in action. When the school approached the Diphupar Village Council they responded positively, she said. She further expressed optimisim that the village council will show the same kind of eagerness in other times of need.
The outgoing EAC while lauding the gesture of the council hoped that it will set an example. When Nagas can run and maintain churches so eficiently, why not schools? He challenged. “If only we could maintain schools just as well”, he posed. Recalling his relation with the village during his tenure as EAC, Chumukedima, he described Diphupar village council as one of the most cooperative. “I look forward to share the same kind of coopeartion we’ve come to share even in future,” he said.
