Dimapur, August 30 (MExN): The Dilong Youth Association (DYA) stated that it is pained and shocked to learn about an incident that happened on the evening of August 26, 2011, where Moasoba, a bona fide member of DYA was assaulted by some police personnel under the influence of alcohol near Telephone Exchange around 9:30 pm.
A note appended by Imtiwapang, vice-president and Imlisanen, general secretary addressed to the Superintend of Police, Mokokchung demanded punitive action against all erring personnel involved in the assault. The DYA demanded the authority that action should be taken on all the erring personnel involved in the incident within 48 hours. Failing which the association shall resort to its own course of action as may deem fit and any situation arising on non compliance of this complain letter, the association will not be held responsible for any untoward incident thereof. The note further stated that action/punishment taken should also be notified to the office of the DYA as well as in the media.
DYA stated anguish after knowing the barbaric act and subsequent injury sustained by the victim, and that it is proof enough how uncivilized the actions of the personnel were, even to the extent of using rifle butt and barrel, which is evident on the victims body. The association out rightly condemns this barbaric act of brutality which is not in accordance to a civilized society.
