MOKOKCHUNG, APRIL 22 (MExN): The enthusiast motorists from as far as Delhi, Calcutta, Shillong along with the people of the state are gearing up to take part in the unique event “Discover Mokokchung”, a Moatsu Festive Motor Rally, to take place on the 1st & 2nd of May 2006, coinciding with the renowned Moatsu Festival of the Aos.

The objective of the Rally is to touch almost all the Government recognized Tourist Villages of the District and also to showcase the potentialities of the unknown sites/villages in all its aspects. According to Mr. Bendangnukshi Longkumer, Convenor of the Organizing Committee, as a beginning the Rally will highlight the newly developed ‘Longra Penlichen’ which has been generously donated by the Dibuia villagers for the promotion of Tourism on account of the Dibuia Baptist Church Centenary Celebration. The Rally participants will rest for the night at this village where they will be entertained with cultural as well as extra-vaganzas.

The Rally will start from Mokokchung where the Minister of School Education Imkong L Imchen will flag off the Rally. This will be followed by stoppages where most of the MLAs and dignitaries will participate in Flagging off in their respective constituencies.

The Rally will conclude at Mokokchung where the Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio will be the Chief Guest at the grand finale which will be marked by an elaborate function and fun fair at Imkongmeren Sports Complex.

Yet, another aspect to this rally is that the Organizers are planning to conduct a series of interactive sessions for the people living at all the Rally stoppages with experts from departments like Tourism, Agriculture, Horticulture, Industry, etc in order to explore the potentialities of those areas. The team of experts will then submit their analysis and findings to the government of Nagaland for future implementation.

Some of the attractions of this particular Rally is that the Organizers will provide the fuel, food and lodging and even obtain Inner Line Permits (ILP) for people from outside.  Gift Hampers and Prizes will also be awarded under certain disciplines. At the end of the day, it’s a certainty that adventure seekers, thrilled motorists or plain fun lovers will have the right satisfaction and the glimpses to last a life time.
