East Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports & Cultural Meet begins

Punglwa, June 14 (MExN): The East Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports and Cultural Meet 2022 event is underway at Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) from June 14 to 18. 

According to an update, six Sainik Schools participating in various competitions are Sainik School Purulia- West Bengal, Goalpara - Assam, Imphal-Manipur, Punglwa-Nagaland,  Chhingchip-Mizoram and Sainik School East Siang-Arunachal Pradesh.

The opening ceremony was graced by Major General RS Guraya, VSM Chief of Staff HQ 3 Corps, Chairman LBA as the chief guest and Hardip Kaur Guraya as the guest of honour. They were received by Gp Cpt RK Yadev, Principal SSPN. 

On arrival, Major General RS Guraya inaugurated the outdoor sports stadium named after Dr T Ao, the renowned football player from Nagaland. The chief guest apprised the young cadets from different Sainik Schools that education today has undergone rapid changes and it can no longer be confined to just within the four walls of a classroom.

‘Academic excellence along with sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities complements the process of education in order to become an effective leader and a responsible citizen,’ he stated. 

All participating teams presented a cultural folk dance of their respective states which was the main attraction of the day besides March Past and Basketball exhibition match.
