Mon, April 17 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) and eight tribal councils, in a consultative and co-ordination meeting with Eastern Naga National Workers (ENNWU and ENNWA), on April 16 unanimously resolved to stand by the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) signed on February 5, 2026 between the Government of India, Government of Nagaland and the ENPO.
An update issued by ENPO President Chingmak Chang and General Secretary Honang Konyak stated that the meeting, held at the Konyak Union Hall in Mon Town, was attended by representatives of the Konyak Union (KU), Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), Phom Peoples' Council (PPC), Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC), Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) and Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH).
Reaffirming the “historic ENPO Tuensang Summit Declaration of Eastern Nagaland as a Peace Zone,” adopted on December 18, 2007, the consultative meeting resolved to stand committed in one accord to ensure peace in the land, justice through equality, uphold the spirit of fraternity and integrity, by “striving towards comprehensive socio-economic development in the remote Eastern Region at par with the rest of the State.”
The organisations pledged to safeguard the future of the younger generation and uphold the spirit of unity and brotherhood. “We stand committed to aligning our minds and actions to address any eventualities that will hinder the growth and prosperity of the future generation of the Eastern Nagas,” the resolution stated.
