ECI prohibits exit poll from April 19 to June 1

Kohima, April 9 (MExN): The Election Commission of India has notified the period from 7 AM of April 19 to  6:30 PM on June 1, 2024, as the timeframe during which conducting, publishing, or publicizing exit polls related to General Elections to Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies is prohibited by means of print, electronic media, or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever.

The General Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha are scheduled to start from April 19, while elections to Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim, as well as bye-elections to 25 Assembly Constituencies in 12 States, are scheduled during the intervening period from April 19-June 1. 

As per the DIPR, the ECI also notified that displaying any election matter, including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the conclusion of the poll in connection with the aforementioned general elections and bye-elections.
