Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): Eco Warriors Nagaland (EWN) and the Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Rangapahar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 2 to establish a collaborative partnership focused on biodiversity conservation, environmental education, scientific documentation and community engagement.
The MoU was signed by Enyiwekha Wezah, IFS, Director and Divisional Forest Conservator (DCF) of Nagaland Zoological Park, and Tekameren I Jamir, Co-Founder of Eco Warriors Nagaland, in the presence of Watisungla Amar, Range Forest Officer (RFO) of the Zoological Park, along with members of the organisation.
According to the partners, the collaboration aims to promote conservation awareness, biodiversity documentation, environmental stewardship and greater public participation in conservation initiatives across the state.
A key component of the partnership will involve technical support from Eco Warriors Nagaland in tree taxonomy and biodiversity documentation within the Zoological Park, including the identification and scientific documentation of tree species and other flora.
The two organisations will also jointly undertake educational outreach programmes, awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, volunteer engagement activities, nature-based learning initiatives and capacity-building programmes.
The collaboration seeks to strengthen the role of the Nagaland Zoological Park as a centre for conservation education while encouraging environmental responsibility among communities and youth.
The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a long-term partnership dedicated to conservation, education, research and sustainable environmental action in Nagaland, the statement said.
