ED doing something appreciable in the absence of opposition: K Therie

DIMAPUR, JUNE 17 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) former president, K Therie on Saturday said Bihar MLC, National Secretary BJP Dr Dilip Jaiswal’s claim that 17 senior officers of the Nagaland government were under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was a huge revelation.

In a press statement, Therie stated that while he doesn’t agree with the ED, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and National Investigation Assembly (NIA) as in many cases as they are used to harass political opponents, in the case of Nagaland, ED is doing something appreciable and in the absence of opposition, it can help the public.

He said If ED is serious to clean corruption; it will support to let the law take its own course without political influence. He also pointed out that there are already five known ED cases pending, however, the delay in hearing was suspicious.

On the flipside, the former congress president deemed Dr Jaiswal’s statement as calculated and with authority and was “briefed to lash out.” “He has information from ED. The statement is with a fork tongue. It is, signal to change leadership, and the other is to intimidate 48 Regional MLAs with ED for fear of being debunked.”

The former congress president also stated that if Congress is corrupt, BJP is a thousand times more corrupt.

“BJP corruption is in terms of thousand and lakhs of crores as alleged in the Rafale deal and demonetization. No project is cleared without payment of commission in all the stages. BJP is not only corrupt in wealth but they play corrupt politics at the cost of public lives, property, and the integrity of the nation.”

Alleging that for BJP, vote politics is the top priority, Therie claimed they are now in nexus with secessionists and extremists. “The nation is in turmoil and they have no concern,” he added.
