OPD services temporarily suspended, ICU sealed

Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): While reports of an elderly patient being tested positive in Eden Medical Center (EMC), Dimapur sent people into frenzy, the hospital authorities have informed that the patient has not yet been tested positive as confirmatory results have not been received.

Reports of the hospital being sealed are also not correct, EMC clarified.

As per a press release issued by EMC Director Dr Lima Imchen, the patient was in ‘respiratory distress’ and was immediately admitted to the ICU and intubated on the night of July 17. A clinical diagnosis of pneumonia was made, he said.

On further assessment, a COVID-19 screening test was done at the EMC laboratory which turned out positive. Following this, the Dimapur COVID Task Force was informed and re-sampling for confirmatory RT-PCR test was done. The result for the confirmatory test will be available only the next day, the EMC Director informed.

Earlier in the day, an EMC official informed The Morung Express that the District Task Force team arrived in the afternoon on July 18 to collect the sample.

Only after the test result is received, the status will be confirmed, the official said.

Meanwhile, the EMC Director also confirmed that the Management, as a precautionary measure, has decided to suspend the OPD services in the hospital until results of the suspected patient arrive on July 19.

The ICU has also been sealed, he said.
