Dimapur, July 1 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has appealed to residents to pay their sanitation fees on time to ensure uninterrupted waste collection and proper waste management within its jurisdiction.
In a press release, the council directed all landlords, landowners and building owners to provide separate dustbins for wet and dry waste for every household or apartment occupied by tenants. They have also been asked to ensure that a compost pit is constructed within their premises for the proper disposal and composting of wet waste.
The EDTC reminded the public that dumping garbage on roadsides, drains or other public places, as well as burning waste, is strictly prohibited.
It warned that anyone found violating the regulations would be liable for inspection, penalties and other action under the applicable rules.
The council further informed residents that waste collection services may be suspended for households that fail to pay their sanitation fees until all outstanding dues are cleared.
Appealing for public cooperation, the EDTC urged residents to practice proper waste segregation and responsible waste disposal to help maintain a clean, healthy and environmentally sustainable East Dimapur.
