Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Office of the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has notified residents about the proposed renaming of several roads under its jurisdiction to improve clarity in road identification, ease navigation and strengthen local identity.
According to the notification, the initiative seeks to align road names with prominent landmarks and geographical features. The move is also expected to streamline postal and administrative processes and enable emergency services to respond more efficiently.
The proposed changes are as follows: Church Road (NH-39 to Toluvi Steel Bridge); Cana Road (NH-39 to Taxes Office); Model Road (NH-39 to Darogajan Gate); Bethany Road (NH-39 to ISBT); Post Office Road (NH-39 to Dhansiri River); Naharabari Middle Road (NH-39 to Darogapathar Junction); and Lake View Road (NH-39 to Naharbari Pukhuri Area).
EDTC stated that the rationale behind the proposal is to adopt more recognizable and straightforward names reflecting important local landmarks and geographical references, making navigation more intuitive for residents, visitors and service providers.
