EDTC urges public to avoid indiscriminate waste dumping

Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has appealed to the public within its jurisdiction to refrain from indiscriminate dumping of waste along roadsides and public areas, citing growing concerns over cleanliness, pollution and public health risks.

In a public notice, the council stated that such practices not only create an unpleasant environment but also contribute to unhygienic conditions, blockage of drains and environmental pollution, posing health hazards to the community.

The EDTC urged citizens to act responsibly and uphold civic sense by maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene practices, stating that a clean environment is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of every resident.

The council acknowledged the inconvenience currently faced by the public due to the absence of a designated dumping site for East Dimapur Town. However, it informed that the concerned authority is actively working towards arranging and establishing a proper dumping site at the earliest.

Until suitable arrangements are made, the council requested residents to bear with the situation and avoid disposing of waste in public spaces and along roadsides.

The EDTC further expressed hope that through collective responsibility and civic awareness, a cleaner and healthier East Dimapur Town could be achieved.
