The Edu Fair Nagaland 2019, Dimapur edition began today at Hotel Acacia. Organized by The Knowledge Network, EduHub and powered by Runway Nagaland, EduCentre and YouthNet, the fair saw participation of around 17 universities from across the country and some, abroad. “This way, students have a bigger option,” Nengneithem Hengna, Founder and MD, Runway Nagaland said.

Speaking to The Morung Express, Hengna said the fair has been successful so far because it is a “whole year activity,” she stressed where the team organizes seminars, course-wise in different schools. This is how the students get the idea on a deeper level. In that way we are able to help the students choose from the varied courses instead of sticking to “Bachelors degree,” Hengna added.

Students get to contain first-hand knowledge with the universities and institutes through the fair. Tovikali and Abigail from DPS Dimapur, who came with an aim to pursue MBBS said they’ve learned a lot of new things, which will add to their much needed ‘right choice’ of institute. With some flyers stacked in their hands, they said they were happy to have attended the fair.

With varied degrees to choose from, not all students are fortunate enough to pursue their choice of degree.

For this reason, it was a sight to behold State Bank of India, Regional Business Office (RBO), Dimapur filling a spot at the fair.

“Many students are not aware of it, so when we saw the advertisement, we thought we’ll come and participate and help the students out,” Lilly Lotha, Manager, MPST, RBO shared.

“We are here mostly to encourage students and to be visible,” Lotha added.

Kamal Debnath, Deputy Manager, RBO said students can apply for education loan via Vidya Lakshmi portal to banks anywhere, anytime by accessing the portal.

It may be mentioned that this portal has been developed under the guidance of Department of Financial Services, (Ministry of Finance), Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Human Resource Development) and Indian Banks Association (IBA).

North Easterns Educational Consultancy, Director Operations, Pritam Thapa shared that the consultancy is not limited to India alone but abroad. They have tied up with genuine international universities across USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Japan, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. A number of students from Nagaland have benefitted from their consultancy which also specializes in Visa, Thapa added.

Hundreds of young students shifted their focus from one stall to the next, moments, crucial for them, to make their dreams a reality. The fair concludes on May 25, which begins from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
