‘Education to children, the most important investment’

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 19 (MExN): District Education Officer (DEO) Dimapur, Asono Ndang on Friday inaugurated the upgradation of Government Primary School Thilixu village to Government Middle School in the presence of DIS Dimapur Y. Khetoshe Yepthomi, teacher incharge Niheto, other teachers, GBs, VEC, village council members and well wishers.

The chief guest spoke about the importance of education for each and every village to make progress in all developmental areas. She said imparting education to the children was the most important investment parents can make. Parents tend to neglect their children as they are busy making money and looking after other aspects of life but the foremost duty is to see that the children get the best possible education, she added.  
Pointing to the upgraded school building, the plaque for which she unveiled, Asono said it was the reflection of community work. She urged the teachers, parents and students to work hand-in-hand. Though the school building belongs to the government, you (public) are also the stakeholders, she said and appealed them to make judicious use of funds and produce utilization certificates so that the government can release more funds. The DEO appealed the teachers to be sincere, loyal and dutiful.
Guest of honour Y. Khetoshe Yepthomi DIS Dimapur who unveiled the plaque for the room extension of the school appreciated all those involved in the construction of the building. Pointing out that many teachers regularly go to school but do not take class, he cautioned such teachers against drawing salary without doing their duties. The DIS also told the teachers not to take classes without proper preparation as it would only confuse the students. He urged the teachers to sincerely teach the students as they would expect other teachers to sincerely teach their children.
GMS Thilixu teacher incharge Niheto in his brief report of the school appealed for more teacher strength in the school. He said that there were 416 students enrolled at present.
