There are three functional Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Nagaland with 744 students across EMRS Diphupar, Tizit and Tuensang.
The EMRSs in Nagaland are managed and run by the Nagaland Eklavya Model Residential School Management Society.
The EMRS Dimapur has a strength of 257 students while EMRS Tizit and Tuensang have 258 and 229 enrolment respectively.
This was stated in Annual Administrative Report 2024-2025 of Tribal Affairs Department, Nagaland.
The schools have classes VI to X.
The objective of the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) is to provide quality education to Scheduled Tribes (ST) students in remote areas in line with JNV, KGBV and KV.
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned a total of 19 additional EMRS for the state of Nagaland.
Out of which, eight EMRS sanction during finical year 2015-16 and 2018-19 are under construction by the Planning & Transformation Department Nagaland.
The remaining 11 EMRS sanctioned during financial year 2019-20 to 21-22 are implemented by the Tribal Affairs department, Nagaland, the report stated.
