The Eloe Ekhung of Wokha village organised its Annual General Conference-cum-Volleyball Tournament on December 15 under the theme “Create Opportunity to Make a Momentum,” with the aim of rejuvenating and strengthening women of the village.
Women leader of Tchuphyangza Baptist Church, Wokha, Mhalo Yanthan, attended the programme as the theme speaker. In her address, Yanthan highlighted the crucial role of women in shaping families and society, stating that women guided by faith often demonstrate wisdom and effective leadership.
She emphasised that sports today go beyond competition, serving as a platform for recreation, relationship-building and fostering unity by setting aside personal differences. Stressing the importance of honesty, she said integrity in sports and in daily life is essential for personal as well as social growth.
Furthermore, she encouraged participants to rise above negativity, promote one another and work collectively for the progress and development of society through love, unity and friendship.
The tournament oath was administered by the General Secretary of the Wokha District Volleyball Association (WDVA), Lichumi Ngullie.
A total of six women’s teams from Wokha village are participating in the volleyball tournament, with the final scheduled to be held on December 16.
