Girl Child Week Celebration observed in Longleng district
Longleng, June 13 (MExN): Mahila Shakti Kendra along with DTF BBBP celebrated Girl Child Week on the theme ‘Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow’ at Government Middle School, Block Longleng on June 13.
According to a DIPR report, the main objectives of this celebration is to aware them on girl child rights and facts of life and to address the girl child issues associated to their health, respect, education, nutrition etc.
GMS, Block Headmaster K. Phaulem in his Welcome speech appreciated the DTF, BBBP & MSK Longleng for organizing such program and also added that it was the first program conducted exclusively for girl students in their School. He encourages the girl students to be confident and stand for their Rights, and also to take such program as an opportunity for the welfare of the girl students.
Tutinungla Phom, District coordinator, gave a brief introduction on Girl Child Week Celebration. While Phungla Phom, WWO MSK Longleng facilitated the outstanding girls students with certificate and gift hampers. She also stressed on the importance of Girl Child Rights and encouraged them to fight against all odds and become a woman with dignity.

After the program, a special session was conducted where the girl students were given opportunities to explore their talent; the students presented their original songs, quotation, poem, speech etc. This was done to make one realize their potentials and take the right decision for their future career.
To support towards the initiative program under the Scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Gift hamper were given to all the girls students who attended the program. The programme was attended by High school girl students, teachers and the OSC team Longleng.
