Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The NSCN (K), led by Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai as President and Kughalu Mulatonu as General Secretary, is currently engaged in what it termed a “bilateral ceasefire process” with the Government of India (GoI).
The process was effected in response to the aspirations of the people and to create a “conducive environment for dialogue and expedite the resolution of the Indo-Naga-Myanmar political issue,” informed a press release from MIP, NSCN-K (Ang Mai).
In pursuit of this objective, the NSCN has held multiple meetings with representatives of the GoI, aiming to fulfil the people's desire for a ceasefire between both parties, it added.
As per the release, the current initiative seeks to accelerate the peace process while preventing confrontations and bloodshed in the region. The NSCN-K (Ang Mai) further appealed to the Naga people for their support as it “continues to work collectively to uphold Naga Sovereignty.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Chaplee Affairs, Kangxi Lang has been designated as the in-charge for Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima districts, it added.
